Although a bit unorthodox, this year we are hosting our Mardi Gras Ball Soccer Tournament not on one of the Mardi Gras festivity weekends but rather on St. Patrick’s Day Weekend on the 16th-17th of March, but don’t fret! We have made a wise decision…
Because Mardi Gras and the Superbowl will be so close together in 2013, the weekend hotel availability was either totally lacking or was ridiculously expensive so the league elected for a more optimal weekend that is not only more economical for our tournament attendees but also still filled with festival activity that tons of locals and visitors enjoy!
For just a few highlights, the Molly’s at the Market Irish Parade is on Saturday the 15th at 6:00PM in the French Quarter with riders in carriages and marching groups, and the famous Pat O’Brien’s Bar on Bourbon will have food and $2 drink specials as well as live music beginning at 4PM! Finn McCool’s Bar in the Mid-City area will be celebrating ALL weekend long with a slew of activities, entertainment, food and more.
The Irish Channel Saint Patrick’s parade also kicks off on Saturday, 16 March at 1:00PM in the Uptown area. The parade is colossal with Mardi Gras sized-floats throwing beads and veggies (cabbages, potatoes, etc.) with marching clubs, bagpipe players and police officers from all over the country marching in between while handing out flowers and fun trinkets.
Sunday is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Metairie – in the area of the tournament – at 12 noon, and is a massive parade that starts at the Clearview Shopping Mall on Veterans Blvd.
That being said, make your way to New Orleans to enjoy the festivities and play some soccer!

Registration deadline is 22 February 2013.
Tournament registration fee will be $425 per team, plus a $100 refundable performance bond (see General Information attachment below for more details). Please note that the fee increases to $450 (with $100 refundable performance bond) if registration is submitted after 2 February 2012 so we advise you send in your registration as early as possible.
The tournament is normally split into 3 divisions, and the teams are always guaranteed 3 games.
The tournament weekend includes the following:
1. Friday night registration
2. First-round games Saturday
3. Partying in New Orleans on Friday and Saturday night – don’t forget to bring your St. Patty’s Day attire!
4. Second-round games/Finals games on Sunday.
5. Awards
The host hotel will be the Four Points by Sheraton in Metairie, LA, located across from the park where we will be playing. We have rooms for Friday (3/15) and Saturday (3/16) nights only, at $119 + taxes/night for doubles.
